Baby shower balloon decorations
Baby showers have become more commonplace in the United Kingdom in recent years and present an opportunity for close family and friends to celebrate the mum-to-be. Typically organised by the mum-to-be’s close friends, baby showers also present an opportunity for the wider community of friends and family take on a bit of the economic pressure of caring for a baby by “showering” the mum to be with gifts/presents. the celebration of baby showers in the UK follows on from other events associated with the arrival of an infant such as Baby Christenings, Baby gender reveal parties; and even first birthday parties.
Big balloons or giant balloons as they are sometimes called which have been around for quite a while have recently come into a position of prominence in the world of balloon decorations. Balloon Inspirations was recently asked to create baby shower balloon decorations incorporating big balloons for a baby shower to be held within an office tower in Central London. While some people prefer to use gender neutral colours such as Light Yellow, Ivory and other pastel colours others would ask for the typical gender specific colours of pink and blue.
Giant latex pink and blue balloons with corresponding sheer organza brought a splash of colour to the room.
Table top balloon sculptures depicting babies created a focal point for the display of baby shower gifts from the guests and colegues of the mum-to-be.
Most people love to have an excuse to throw or even attend a good party.
A relative newcomer on the “party-to-celebrate” block is the planning and celebration of a “baby gender reveal” party. This is a trend that has been gaining a lot of traction in recent years and appears to be fuelled by the social sharing sites such as Facebook, Pinterest and the online handmade and vintage marketplace – Etsy.
Boy or girl? The big question which is on the lips of most of the friends and family of the parents to be and hosting a baby’s gender reveal is certainly an exciting way of letting everyone know at once. In fact, quite often, even the baby’s parents choose to find out their baby’s sex at the same time as their friends and family so they can fully share in the anticipation and excitement too. This approach takes a bit of extra planning as when the mum-to-be goes for her pregnancy scan sufficiently late in her pregnancy, she would ask the sonographer not to let her know but write down and seal the sex of the baby in an envelope.
Often, revealing the gender of a baby is incorporated into the baby shower thus making it a two-in-one party. At Balloon Inspirations, we are privileged to be a part of baby gender reveal parties by providing unique balloon decor for baby showers and baby gender reveal parties.
Balloons in a box:
For couples who wish to share the excitement and anticipation of learning the sex of their baby at the same time as their family and friends, we create large boxes stuffed full of balloons in the conventional colours to signify if they are expecting a little boy or a little girl. Variations of this theme include plush toys also in the conventional colour (pink or blue) ‘holding’ balloons which float up as the box is opened.
Large (3 foot) balloons in solid colours are filled with smaller balloons and confetti in pink or blue. These balloons are then exploded remotely or conventionally at a predetermined time during the celebrations, dropping their contents onto the parents-to-be, revealing in an instant the gender of the expected baby.
Even if you do not wish to host a party specifically for revealing your baby’s gender, the advent of social media means you can still creatively announce whether you are expecting a boy or a girl. A photo shoot featuring balloons in the appropriate colour could be posted to a group of your friends and family on Facebook /Instagram and other social media sites ; just remember to adjust your privacy settings so your baby announcement does not end up going viral!
When planning child’s birthday celebration, there are many things to consider. Of course one of the first things to consider would be what form the birthday celebration is going to take? Would you or should you go for a quiet evening at home (if you – the parent can get away with it!), a shopping trip – (when they get to a certain age)… Once you have resigned yourself to the reality that you are not going to get away with a quiet evening at home and you know for sure you are having a party, other considerations have to be made. Where is this party taking place? in your living room, your garden (many people are getting away with this even with the UK’s dubious climate) or some other function hall or function room somewhere.
As soon as the party venue has been decided, you can decide whether or not you would like to go for a “themed” party or not. Themed parties are particularly popular especially for children who already know their own favourite colours, TV shows or fictional characters.
A party “theme” that would hardly ever go out of fashion or favour is the simple use of primary colours or rainbow colours, due mainly to the fact that these bright colours have the inherent ability to brighten up any room. Balloons have that special advantage of adding vibrant colours to a space, instantly filling even the most drably decorated room with fun and life!
Tope Abulude of Ballooninspirations.com; serving Essex, Kent, London and beyond within the UK has had the pleasure of designing party decorations featuring multicoloured rainbow balloons. One of the more recent of such parties was a birthday party featuring an actual balloon “rainbow” which served as the room focal point, framing the celebrant’s cake table. The guest table decorations comprised small balloon rainbows floating above balloon clouds as shown in the pictures below.
The use of balloons in bright colours (rainbow balloons) for birthday party decorations is especially effective when there is a desire to mask the decor of the function venue. As balloons help to fill up spaces with large blocks of colour, bringing attention to themselves; this attribute was utilised for another birthday party venue recently.
These pictures show varied interpretations of the same theme:- Clients may choose to focus the decorations on creating specific focal points such as the birthday cake table, ceiling decorations (useful when the space has a high ceiling ), the dancefloor, individual table decorations/centrepieces or you can have full room decorations – a “splash” of colour all over the room, creating a unified whole. The colours and the giant “O ” or ring in the pictures below actually allude to “loom bands” ; a firm favourite with the birthday celebrant.
The New Years Eve party, often termed the biggest party night of the year springs to mind as each year draws to a close. Around the end of the year, almost everyone, young and old begin to explore where and with whom they would like to usher in the New Year.
At Balloon Inspirations, we are able to help you create fantasy filled party decorations which would remain in the minds of your guests for a long while afterwards, as we design truly spectacular party decor.
In particular, large hotels and function rooms catering for varied clientele on New year’s eve would benefit from our design expertise, utilising a combination of clever lighting incorporated into balloon decorations which would keep your guests enthralled. There are various design elements we can include in your design from the entrance right through to your guest tables, dance floor and even a stage if you have one.
The stage or dance floor treatment can be as elaborate or as simple as desired – depending on the atmosphere or feelings you wish to evoke within the party goers. The choice could therefore be between having fun- filled bright and cheerful decor (usually using latex balloons and accessories) glamour or even understated luxury.
As it is traditional to countdown to the New year, creating a loud “bang” or explosion from part your balloon decorations is very effective. Guests would be caught unawares as to the source of the noise until the balloons and confetti flutter down from where they would have been previously rigged. Exploding balloons are explained further here: EXPLODING BALLOONS.
In addition to exploding balloons, we create other “interactive balloon decorations such as our very popular balloon-stick-men. These are very lightly weighted balloon sculptures which we often place around the dance floor in order to generate a lot of fun for guests as they appear to “move” with the music.
The pictures below depict some more of the varied treatments we at Balloon Inspirations are able to give your function venue; depending on the function room space, size and design brief of our Clients.

Somewhere in Essex, UK, the same marquee hosts Christmas party revellers year after year.
The photos below show some of the different ways Balloon Inspirations has treated the same party venue; easily showcasing the versatility of Balloon decorations from Balloon Inspirations.
When we say we love to create bespoke décor for each and every Client, we really do mean what we say! We thrive on our ability to create party decorations to suit our clients’ budget, colour/theme preferences as well as the particular venue for the proposed party – your living room or garden, a hotel banquet room or a community centre. Each venue has its own particular quirks and we have learned to, where we can, use these to our advantage to help create the desired ambience for your party.
Just to buttress our point, we have posted below pictures from several “Minnie Mouse” themed birthday party decorations by Balloon Inspirations.
These pictures show varied interpretations of the same theme:- Clients may choose to focus the decorations on creating specific focal points such as the birthday cake table, ceiling decorations (useful when the space has a high ceiling ), the dancefloor, individual table decorations/centrepieces or you can have full room decorations – a little everywhere to create a unified whole.
We have a few pictures of variations on the Minnie Mouse birthday party theme.
Here we have a slight variation on the same theme; Minnie Mouse themed party decorations – the dance floor canopy treatment differs from the one above, as textile swags are incorporated for a different look. Also note the inclusion of the large (3 foot) “exploding balloon” for added effect.
…and below, we show a few more examples.

The first flurry of snow for this season just covered a large part of the UK this morning, particularly in the South East region, including London and the surrounding Home counties.
While no one (particularly commuters) could ignore the nuisance and disruption that comes in the wake of snow fall in this country, in the same vein, it is just as difficult to ignore the charm and inherent beauty of the “white stuff”.
Perhaps this unrelenting fascination with the weather phenomenon called snow explains why so many people choose a wintry scene as a theme for their party decorations. It is just as feasible to have winter-wonderland /white Christmas themed Wedding decorations as it is to have children’s Christmas party decorations. The difference would be in the choice of décor elements as well as the accents used.
