End of Year Celebration at Chessington: A Blue & Silver Statement
We recently had the pleasure of styling an elegant end-of-year celebration held at the Holiday Inn, Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey. The brief was clear: create a space that felt polished and professional, while still capturing the energy and excitement of a well-earned celebration.
To achieve this, we built the entire design around a refined blue and silver palette. By layering multiple shades of blue, from sapphire blue through to softer icy tones, and pairing them with crisp metallic silvers, the result was a near-monochromatic scheme that felt cohesive and intentional rather than flat.
A key part of the visual impact came from the careful balance of materials. We combined high-shine foil balloons with classic latex to introduce both texture and contrast. The reflective quality of the foil elements caught the ambient lighting beautifully, adding movement and depth across the room, and the latex balloons softened the overall look and kept the styling approachable.
Strategic use of balloon clusters, statement pieces, and complementary accessories allowed us to define different areas within the venue without overwhelming the space. The result was décor that felt structured and formal at first glance, yet still carried a sense of fun and celebration on closer inspection.
This type of palette works particularly well for corporate or end-of-year events because it avoids overly bold or distracting colours, while still delivering a strong visual presence. The blue and silver combination, in particular, offers a timeless finish that photographs well and suits a wide range of venues.
Overall, the event struck the right balance: clean, cohesive, and celebratory without excess. This was a fitting way to close out the year in style.
